下院村属富泉乡，村委会位于一座古寺院的下方，村名由此而来。[1]

2023年12月，下院村被认定为「2023年度福建省“一村一品”专业村」，其品类为富泉羊。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1915年至1935年间村地归西区管辖，此前的清代则属中和乡唐元里二十四都。1958年起划入城关公社富泉管理区，称下院生产大队；1961年富泉人民公社成立后仍为下院生产大队；1984年设富泉乡下院村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

村民以农业收入为主。村内辉绿岩资源丰富。[1]
