地名由来[edit]
村内四面群山，一条小溪自中央穿过，地势凹陷如窝，原称窝坑。因“窝”与“芋”方言读音相近，才改作芋坑。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
百度百科称村庄建置可上溯至宋代，村中现存清嘉庆年间的铁钟等遗物。[3]
清代归丰和乡永安里二都。民国期间，1915年至1935年间村属东区；1958年归城关公社大樟管理区，成为芋坑生产大队；1978年改由塘前人民公社管辖，1984年设村民委员会，隶属塘前乡。[1][2]
本村于2020年12月入选「2020年福建省森林村庄」，2021年11月获福建省爱卫办授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。2023年2月，芋坑村入选「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡村」。2024年12月，经认定为「福州市2024年市级“一村一品”专业村」，主导产业枇杷。2025年11月，被确定为「福建省2025年度省级“一村一品”专业村」，产品为枇杷。[1]

当地以农业为主，稻作为单季稻，属中稻区。种植的水果包括柑橘、橄榄、枇杷，另产毛竹。[2]
