村子位于境内一大片田坂的头部，村名由此而来。[1]

清代，村子属中和乡唐元里的二十四都。1961年编入同安人民公社，设为坂头生产大队；1984年改由同安乡管辖，设坂头村民委员会；1992年改为同安镇坂头村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2023年12月，村庄被认定为「福州市2023年市级一村一品专业村」，主导产业为东风菜。2024年11月，村庄被认定为「2024年度福建省一村一品专业村」，产业同为东风菜。[1]
