民主村位于梧桐镇中心区，大樟溪支流青龙溪流经其西侧，沿省道交通便利。村落面积2.5平方千米，辖4个自然村、13个村民小组。村名表达了村务公开、村民自主的愿望。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年起归梧桐公社梧桐管理区，1961年改属梧桐人民公社，1984年划入梧桐乡，1989年归梧桐镇。[1]

2024年1月，村里被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村内光德庄建于1911年，历时六年竣工，庄主为林氏兄弟。庄内建有碉楼等防御建筑，保存了多种寿字图案的精美木雕。2014年7月10日，此庄被收入永泰县第八批县级文物名录。[2]
