玉湖村位于嵩口镇西部的大樟溪左岸，距嵩口镇约2公里，距永泰县城关57公里。村名的来历：早期村民在一片有湖、后山如玉带的地方定居，故名玉湖。[1]

村落面积5平方千米，辖2个自然村、9个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1952年设三区玉湖乡，1955年改称嵩口区玉湖乡。1958年，玉湖归嵩口管理区管辖；1961年成为嵩口人民公社的玉湖生产大队。1984年，玉湖改设为嵩口镇玉湖村民委员会。清代属和平乡英达里三十四都。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

紫山堂位于玉湖村，别称恭恩厝。它于清同治九年动工，历经二十年建成，占地7000多平方米，设有六个小厅，厅头的木屏风上有木雕。[1]

文化[edit]

2020年2月，玉湖村列入「福建省第三批省级传统村落」名单；2022年10月，被认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
