龙湘村在永泰县西南部，离嵩口镇政府约5公里，沿大樟溪呈条带状分布。村辖龙湘、半山2个自然村，共15个村民小组。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

村落面积约12.5平方千米，森林覆盖率达74.47%，另有100多亩省级生态公益林。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：村后有三座山形如龙，相传曾被地理先生所伤；“伤”与“湘”方言相近，故名龙湘。[1]

清代属和平乡英达里三十四都。1958年归嵩口管理区管辖，1961年成为嵩口人民公社的龙湘生产大队。“文革”期间，村名一度换作“阳光”生产大队，1981年又复为龙湘。1984年，此地设为嵩口镇龙湘村民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村尾建有中园王庙宇与奶妈庙宇，村中留有明代石马槽，共三处，至今已有300多年。[1][2]

文化[edit]

龙湘村2020年2月入选「福建省第三批省级传统村落」名单；2021年11月，龙湘村经福建省爱卫办确定，获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2022年10月被认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」；2023年2月入选「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡村」名单；2023年12月被命名为「2023年度福建省森林村庄」。[1]
