嵩口镇地处永泰县西南部，与仙游、德化、尤溪、闽清等县相邻，距县城56公里。镇区保存有较多明清时期的古民居，2008年获得「中国历史文化名镇」称号，在福州市境内是仅有的一座国家级历史文化名镇。[3][4]

古渡口、鹤形路等老街巷与镇内的民俗博物馆，集中在镇区一带。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代，嵩口属和平乡英达里。元代置镇；至正年间在此设漈门巡检署，明清时仍设巡检司，而辖区分属中和乡感应里、和平乡英达里与保德里。[1][2]

民国初年此地归南区管辖，1938年才定名为嵩口镇。新中国成立后起初隶属第三区；1955年又划出设为嵩口区，区内含一个镇与十六个乡。1958年这里成为公社，1961年另行组建人民公社，直到1984年才恢复嵩口镇的建制。[2]

地理环境[edit]

镇域位于永泰、仙游、德化、尤溪、闽清五县交界处，离县城56公里，203省道与103省道在境内通过。[4]

镇名原作「嵩阳」，后改称嵩口，取地处高山之麓、位于两溪汇合口之意，两溪指大樟溪与长庆溪。[2]

镇域面积257平方千米。[1]

镇域内设20个行政村与1个居委会，人口总计32730人。[1]

文化[edit]

古民居在镇区约有60多座，全镇超过100座，建造年代多属明清。[1] 古渡口一带竖有数块碑刻，记载的是过去嵩口的制度规矩与民间风俗。[3]

镇里设有民俗博物馆，展出的山林契、卖契等大多由乡亲无偿捐赠。每月初一、十五的赶圩日，镇上另有赶圩节、盘诗、纸狮等民俗活动；虎尊拳、嵩口剪纸等非遗项目也常年有表演。[1][3]

嵩口曾入选「重点改善提升历史文化名镇名村项目」，此后修缮的文化遗迹共22处，其中有鹤形路、千年渡口与龙口厝。[3]

嵩口镇获得的荣誉包括：2016年10月经住房和城乡建设部认定，成为「第一批中国特色小镇」，同年12月入选「第四批美丽宜居小镇示范」名单；2020年12月被福建省爱卫办命名为「福建省卫生乡镇」。[2]

2022年10月，省农业农村厅将嵩口镇列为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」；2023年2月入选「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡镇」名单；2023年8月，「首批国家农业产业强镇」名单公布，嵩口镇（李果）入选其中；2023年12月被命名为「2023年度福建省森林乡镇」。2024年2月，嵩口镇成为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」的创建对象。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇内的古建筑中，垅口祖厝位于中山村，下车碓厝位于月阙村，下坂厝位于下坂村，三处均列入「福建省第九批省级文物保护单位」。[5][6][7]

下车碓厝原为利用水车动力的碾米厂，由郑昭德于清咸丰年间始建，现存建筑群由敦仁堂与静远堂两座院落组成。[6]

下坂厝又名用坦厝，始建于清乾隆至嘉庆年间，沿袭中原古民居的格局，院内有正大厅、下厅、横厝等建筑，并保存有清乾隆年间雕刻的屏风。[7]

著名人物[edit]

南宋词人张元幹诞生于嵩口。《说岳全传》修订者金丰、被称为「中国杉木之王」的俞新妥，以及《花季雨季》作者郁秀，也都是嵩口人。[1]

博雅地名网列出的历史人物还有力钧（1855—1925）、黄龟年（1083—1145）和「闽中十才子」之一的王偁（1370—1415）。[2]
