渡塘村位于福建省福州市闽清县下祝乡与古田县交界处，距乡政府约6公里，全村面积4.7平方千米。[2]

村名的来历是：村尾两山之间有溪流穿过，雨季水势上涨，积成大塘，过往村民须乘船摆渡，因而得名「渡塘」。[2]

2021年12月，渡塘村列入2021年度福建省森林村庄名单。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代归奉政乡安仁里，元代为十九都之下的一村，明代并入二十都诸都的统一图，清代称怀德乡渡塘村，民国时为杉村乡渡塘保。[2]

1950年划入前塘乡，1952年改称渡塘乡，1956年转属东桥区并入前洋乡。1958年起设渡塘大队，1961年归下祝公社；1984年乡政府成立后，渡塘成为乡属村委会。[2]
