下祝村位于福建省福州市闽清县西北部山区，是下祝乡人民政府所在地，也是全乡面积最大的行政村，平均海拔约725米。[1]

村名的来历与祝姓有关：古时祝氏兄弟分家，哥哥住上村，弟弟住下村，因祝氏祖祠设在下村，此地便称「下祝」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地归奉政乡安仁里。元代在十九都之下分设上祝、下祝两村，明代并入二十都等六个都合成的统一图，清代归怀德乡管辖。[2]

民国时期属杉村乡祝岭保。新中国成立后，村子曾隶属洋祝乡、后岭乡，1955年起划入洋头乡所在的东桥区。[2]

1958至1959年间，该村称上祝大队，分属火箭公社与东桥公社。1961年下祝公社成立后改名下祝大队；1984年7月设为乡属的下祝村委会。[2]
