莲埔村位于上莲乡西部，村名取自附近的莲花山[1]。村内设有上莲中学，另有中心小学与中心幼儿园各一所[1]。

地名由来[edit]

早年这里有林姓人家居住，称作林埔。清代又有方姓人家来此开垦，因地处莲花山下，取「莲」字，改名莲埔[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

明清时属十二都。民国时设莲埔保，隶双兰乡。1950年隶第四区上莲乡；1958年归池园公社，称上莲大队。1961年另设新莲大队，归上莲公社；1964年又改隶池园公社；1973年改称莲埔大队；1980年再划归上莲公社。1984年改为村委会，隶上莲乡人民政府[1]。

荣誉[edit]

本村于2022年10月被列为第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇[1]。
