上莲乡是福建省福州市闽清县的乡，位于县境西南部，东面和北面与池园镇、省璜镇相邻，南面和西面与永泰县、尤溪县接界[1]。乡政府驻上莲村[3]。

乡名取自民国时期境内的上寨保与莲埔保：建国后两保合并为一乡，各取一字，称为上莲[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

清代，莲埔、溪坪、峰洋等十个自然村隶属淳化乡。此前这片土地在宋代归永宁乡，元明两代属寿宁乡下的十二都，其中包括仁寿里。民国初年先后归第四区五团和二区双芝乡管辖[2]。

1949年9月至12月间，当地设双溪乡，辖溪村、上莲、石丰、秋园四个保。次年分设石丰、上莲、溪村三乡，隶属第四区。1958年，上莲、溪村、石峰三个大队归池园公社管辖；1961年从池园公社划出，另设上莲公社；1964年重新并回池园公社；1980年再度独立为上莲公社；1984年7月改制为乡，称上莲乡人民政府[2][1]。

并乡之前，上莲一带原辖9个村委会。2004年7月28日，省政府发文同意撤销后佳乡、佳头乡，并入上莲乡[3]；两乡原辖的9个村委会随之归入。百度百科则记该次调整在2005年2月[1]。

2011年4月，环境保护部把「2011年度国家级生态乡镇」的称号授予本乡[2]。2024年1月，本乡被命名为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」[2]。

地理环境[edit]

芝溪是本乡河流的主干，山地丘陵占去大部分面积，莲花山高1217.2米[1]。气候类型为中亚热带季风，年平均温度介于16至21℃，年降水约1492毫米[1]。

境内有高岭土、叶蜡石等矿产，林地面积11.6万亩；百度百科以「毛竹之乡」「雪柑之乡」「水电之乡」称呼本乡[1]。

两处资料对本乡面积记载不同：百度百科为116.66平方千米[1]，博雅地名网为约63.7平方公里[2]。两处数字均未注明统计年份，尚无更可靠的官方数字可以采用。

人口[edit]

截至2019年末，户籍人口为13447人[1]。2020年第七次全国人口普查时，全乡乡村人口为5948人[4]。

经济[edit]

水稻是本乡的主要作物，有的村子则把黄甜笋作为特色种植[1]。博雅地名网说本乡主产水稻、水果与毛竹[2]。
