云中村位于云龙乡，村委会驻云中自然村。1980年前，村子也称前坪。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历有几种说法。一说地势高，白云缭绕，仿佛身处云中；一说村中通往山岭的道路叫云中路，早年刻有「云中路」石碑；又一说村中心是山间盆地，故以此为名。[1]

明清时此地属二都，民国时设台云保，归白台乡。1950年设云龙乡，隶属第一区；此后1955年改归梅城镇管辖。[1]

1956年成立高级社；1958年，村子名为前坪大队，隶属白樟公社。1961年划回云龙乡，1964年又归白樟公社。1980年因与他村同名，改名云中大队，仍属白樟公社。1984年设云中村委会，1987年8月重回云龙乡。[1]

2021年11月，云中村被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
