坪溪村原名“溪坪”。村中一条小溪在沙石冲击下，河床宽阔平坦，因此得名。1980年，因与外乡一个大队同名，改称坪溪。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

元代为二十二都下的溪坪村，明代划入包括二十都、二十一都在内的三都统一的一个图；清代属怀德乡的溪坪、小溪村，民国时属下洋乡的下宅保。[2]

新中国成立初，村境归南宅乡管辖（1950至1954年），1955年改属东桥区，1956年并入东桥乡。1958年分出独立的溪坪大队，1959至1963年仍称溪坪大队，隶东桥公社。1964年至1972年间与另一大队合并，1973年复又独立，1980年因与外乡一个大队同名，改称坪溪大队。1984年东桥乡政府设立，村子划为其属下的村民委员会；1991年起归东桥镇管辖。[2]

2008年实施国家造福工程，全村整体搬迁；村委会旧址迁往叶坂头，并于2014年建成。[2]
