高港村地势偏高，位置较为偏僻，村旁有一条溪名为“港”，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代属奉政乡安仁里，元代属二十都高港村，明代与二十一、二十二都等三个都合编为一个图，清代属怀德乡高港村，民国时属下洋乡新南保。[2]

新中国成立初，村境属第二区新桥乡；1954年到1955年间自成高港大队，1956年又并入新桥乡。1958年归火箭公社的高港大队，1959年改隶东桥公社。1984年东桥乡政府设立后，高港成为其属下的村民委员会，此后归东桥镇管辖。[2]

2021年11月，村子经福建省爱卫办确定为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]2023年12月，高港村被认定为福州市「2023年市级一村一品专业村」，主导产业为铁皮石斛。[1]
