溪沙村的村名来自一则传说：古代某位天子避难途经东桥，行至村境时，村中有一尊石狮迎候，天子却在村外一华里左右遇难，石狮随之消失。后人据此取名“溪狮”，又因方言里“狮”“溪”同音，写作“溪沙”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代属奉政乡安仁里。此地元代归二十都，称溪沙村；明代属二十一、二十二都所在的统一图；清代归怀德乡；民国时为下洋乡下宅保的一部分。[2]

1950年代，村子先在第二区南宅乡之下，1955年转入东桥区的南宅乡，其后曾于1956年并入东桥乡。1958年归火箭公社，1959年归东桥公社，1973年复设溪沙大队，此后长期不变。1984年东桥乡政府设立后，溪沙划为其属下的村民委员会。[2]
