南墘村位于塔庄镇境内，村名经过雅化而定。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村中多山岭小路，行走艰难。本地方言把「走」说作「墘」，意为行走，原先的意思就是难行，后来经雅化写作「南墘」。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
古时村子属五都龙源境。民国前期归陈厝垅保，后期归炉溪保。解放初曾隶炉洋乡，次年又改划到第六区。[1]
1958年炉洋大队归坂东公社；1959年析出南墘大队，1964年又并回炉洋大队，1973年再度分设，归塔庄公社。1984年起改为南墘村委会，1993年后隶属塔庄镇。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2021年11月，村子获命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
