历史沿革[edit]
村中有一条小溪，溪水向下游流去，原称“下溪”。因本地方言里“下”与“霞”读音相近，遂演变为“霞溪”[1]。
明清时称十四都霞溪；民国时归金沙乡一个保管辖。1950年设继溪乡，隶第三区；1956年组建高级社，1958年建霞溪大队，隶红旗公社，次年划入白中公社，1984年设霞溪村委会，隶白中乡[1][2]。
2019年12月，霞溪村入选国家林业和草原局公布的「第二批国家森林乡村」名单[1]。2021年11月，霞溪村获福建省爱卫办授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号[1]。福建省农业农村厅于2022年10月将霞溪村列为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」[1]。
