廷洋村是梅溪镇下辖的行政村。先民迁来此地时，这里还是一片荒芜的洋田；经多年开垦，成为大片良田。为纪念开垦荒洋的祖先，村庄最初取名“陈洋”，后来“陈”“跟”“廷”三字读音相同，便演变为“廷洋”。[1]
