榕院村是梅溪镇下辖的行政村，属镇乡结合区。村域东邻榕星村，西接钟石村，北靠樟洋村。村名各取榕山与院坪两座山峰的首字而成，村内有院坪水库。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元两代此地分别归奉政乡与升平坊，明清时榕院已是一都境内的村落。1950年划入第一区，属梅城一带的榕院小乡；1956年与钟石乡合并，依旧称榕院乡。[2]

1958年9月，此地组成榕院大队，隶英雄人民公社；1959年归梅城公社；1972年析出榕星大队。1981年随梅溪公社设立而归其管辖；1984年改为榕院村委会，1993年撤乡建镇后隶属梅溪镇政府。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村内的院坪水库于1966年3月竣工。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

村中的曹埔石拱桥位于曹埔自然村南面大坑，桥身东西向，拱跨4.9米，桥宽3.5米，桥长14.6米；池厝里石拱桥位于院坪自然村南面，横跨山涧，全长11.3米、宽1.7米。[3]

经济[edit]

村内以橄榄为主导产业。2023年12月，榕院村被认定为福州市2023年市级「一村一品」专业村，主导产业为橄榄；2025年11月，又被确定为福建省2025年度省级「一村一品」专业村（橄榄）。[1]

2024年1月，村庄被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
