历史沿革[edit]
村子1984年改设村委会，前身是1958年成立的新澳大队。明代村址属贤一里，民国时期行政区划曾多次调整[3]。
地理环境[edit]
村名的来历：此处原是海边的一小片平地，人们习惯称它为“澳”。后来福清林姓人家迁来定居，建起新村，于是得名新澳[4]。
经济[edit]
村民多以海产养殖为业[3]。
文化[edit]
2021年11月，村子被拟命名为「福建省卫生村」[3]。
