霍口村是福州市罗源县霍口畲族乡的乡政府驻地，也是全乡的中心村。乡名的来历与本村有关。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村子建在急流溪的溪口，因此得名；这条溪也叫霍口溪。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明至清末，本地属重下里。民国时期归第四区与第三区管辖，并入福丰乡。1950年设霍口乡，隶属第四区；1956年划归霍口区。1958年改设霍口大队，隶霍口公社；1961年复设区级建制，又归霍口公社管理，1965年撤区并社后仍属霍口公社。“文革”期间改为大队革委会，1983年改回大队管委会，1984年改设村委会，属霍口畲族乡。[2]
文化[edit]
2024年1月，本村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」；2020年6月，被确定为「罗源县第四轮第一批（2019年）平安村（社区）」。[1]
