破石村位于西兰乡西部山区，下辖6个自然村，属于老区基点村。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村子临近田洋，一带多石，旧称「万石」，雅称「万硕」。后来有一块巨石被雷电击破，村名遂改为破石洋，简称破石。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明至清末此地归化一里；民国时期隶属第四区、第三区，并入凤寿乡。1950年起隶属第五区，1952年改属第八区，1955年归洋柄区。1958年并入飞竹公社。1961年分出设立破石大队，属飞竹区。1965年划入西兰公社，1984年改设村委会，隶属西兰乡。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2022年12月，村庄获得「2022年福建省卫生村」称号。2024年6月，破石村入选福建省第四批高级版「绿盈乡村」名单。[1]
