西兰乡在福州市罗源县中部，与白塔乡、飞竹镇、中房镇和洪洋乡相邻，全乡辖17个行政村。乡名的来历与当地畲族居民有关：相传村东住着雷姓，村西住着蓝姓，遂称西蓝，后简写作西兰。[1][4][5]

县政府的行政区划一览记西兰乡面积为77.56平方千米，海拔385米。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地隶属崇德乡，明清两代分属梅溪、化一、罗平三里。[2]

民国时期此地先后归第四区、第三区管辖，并分属凤寿、凤后等乡。1949年后归第一区，1950年改属第五区，1956年划入洋柄区。[2]

1958年5月此地设西兰、岭头两乡，同年10月并入飞竹公社。1961年5月，飞竹区下分设西兰、岭头、后路三个小公社；1965年7月撤区，三社合并为西兰公社。1984年9月，人民公社改为乡建制，西兰公社改称西兰乡。[2][3][4]

面积的记载并不一致：县政府2016年发布的行政区划一览作77.56平方千米，百度百科作77.64平方千米，博雅地名网作约66平方公里。本条目取县政府的数字。[1][3][4]

人口[edit]

据百度百科，截至2019年末，西兰乡户籍人口为13285人。[4]

经济[edit]

农业以水稻、茶叶为主，茶叶中以「七境堂绿茶」最有名；乡内还盛产香菇，建有飞仙岩香菇生产基地。乡内主要企业有石材加工、竹编等厂。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

「罗源县人民游击队磹石驻地旧址」位于磹石村，原是当地杨氏的祖宅。1934年中国共产党游击队驻扎于此，后来的开国上将叶飞也曾在此居住，旧址内还设有红军工农食堂；村中另有「中国工农红军北上抗日先遣队（磹石）陈列馆」。两处均在2021年8月列入第八批县级文物名单。[6]

洋坪村的古民居群是乡内另一处值得一提的遗存，县政府网站称村中现存16座古民居，多为杉木结构。[7]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，西兰乡被命名为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」。[1]
