护国村是福建省福州市罗源县起步镇下辖的行政村，位于镇北部，村落在茅山脚下[1][3][4]。村北的茅山为罗源县的自然风景保护区[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1950年，此地设护国乡，属一区；1958年撤区改社，村成立护国大队，归起步公社；1961年区建制恢复，改属起步区；1965年区建制再次撤销，村仍归起步公社[1][3]。

“文革”期间大队由革命委员会主持；1983年起恢复管委会名称，1984年建为村委会[1]。

自然与水系[edit]

护国溪常年有水，为淡水养殖提供水源[2]。

历史人文[edit]

村中有清代古民居十多座，并有临水宫，规模较大[2]。

荣誉[edit]

2020年6月，护国村被确定为「罗源县第四轮第一批（2019年）“平安村（社区）”」[1]。

2021年12月，护国村被命名为「2021年度福建省森林村庄」[1]。

2023年12月，护国村被认定为「2023年度福建省“一村一品”专业村」，主导产业为地瓜粉[1]。

护国村于2024年1月获命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」[1]。
