村子处于乡域西北，东侧与罗源县梅洋村相接。因地处山边，村名先作“布边”，后谐音改为蒲边。[1]

全村总人口2357人，580户，辖11个自然村、25个村民小组，耕地2100亩。县道穿村而过。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

蒲边大队1958年隶属蓼沿公社，改设村委会是1984年的事。[1]

文化遗存[edit]

村内的原福州市建设山区青年志愿队旧址是一座清代中期的丁家祠堂，详见蓼沿乡条。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，蒲边村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。2023年12月，该村被命名为「2023年度福建省森林村庄」。2022年10月，该村经福建省农业农村厅认定，列入「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
