下宫村是下宫镇的镇政府驻地，位于罗源湾南岸，三面有山、一面临海。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

早年村中有一座香火旺盛的慧明堂，占地较广，村名先叫厦宫。因与下宫音近，后改用下宫之名。[3]

1949年仍称厦宫乡。1958年设厦宫大队，隶属坑园公社；1984年改为厦宫村委会，属坑园乡。1993年，厦宫村委会划入下宫乡。[2]

2024年1月，本村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

文化[edit]

每年农历正月十一至十五，村里的群众自发组织陈靖姑金身巡游，祈求风调雨顺、乡亲平安。这一习俗由祖辈传承下来。[4]

经济[edit]

村民以海上养殖为主业，鲍鱼养殖兴起之后，外地来的人口也有参加养殖的。[1]
