地名与历史沿革[edit]
村民在玉井这一地名处建居，故名玉井，俗称下井村。明清时期属伍贤乡保安里东井境。[1][2]
新中国成立后，村子归马鼻第六区玉井大队管辖；1979年改称马鼻镇玉井村大队，1984年设玉井村委会。1992年村里再度围垦，建起新村。[1][2]
人口与生计[edit]
博雅地名网所载，全村1003户、4180人，分为6个片区、24个村民小组。[2]
村民历来依海为生。村所属的浅海海区是主要渔业养殖基地，村民以网箱养鱼为主，养殖大黄鱼、真鲷、鲈鱼、鲍鱼等，滩涂上另有海蛎、紫菜、海带等。1998年，玉井被列为福建省大黄鱼养殖基地。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2024年1月，玉井村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」；2023年12月，被认定为「2023年度福建省一村一品专业村」（牡蛎）。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
村前海边有一块形似马头的灵石，据说马鼻地名即由此而来。[2]
村中天后宫始建于明嘉靖年间，2002年重建；村尾白马大王神庙与灵石相对，庙旁有两棵百年古榕。[2]
村中有陈氏宗祠数座及郑氏宗祠，祠宇始建于明朝年间。[2]
