地名由来[edit]
村内早年建有一座石拱桥，村民在桥头建居，村名由此而来，旧称拱川。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年设拱头大队，1984年组建拱头村委会。[1]
村子原四面环海，经围海造地，现有良田几千亩。[2]
姓氏与人物[edit]
村中有孙、林、陈、黄、肖等姓。孙氏始祖随王审知入闽，后裔一支迁居拱川，明洪武年间有族人任福建提刑按察司书吏，其后官至吏部郎中。[2]

村中现存明清旧祠五座。[2]
经济[edit]
村子地理位置特殊，是马鼻镇的粮食生产基地之一。改革开放后农业结构有所调整，一部分村民在外成立房地产建筑公司，另一部分村民留村发展农业。[2]
