地名由来[edit]
村民在土墩上建居，故名墩里，又称七里墩。早年海滩上有数个小土墩，其中下墩地势形成七星拱月之状，因而旧称七星墩。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
清乾隆十五年（1750年），陈姓人家迁到下墩开垦，之后林姓也陆续迁入，两姓携手筑海堤、造闸门、修道路，逐渐形成村落。[2]
1958年，港桥、横路、墩里三个自然村组成墩里大队；1984年改为墩里村民委员会，才成为建制村。[1][2]
人口与村貌[edit]
全村共有313户，人口1384人，村民小组为18个。村中新式楼房与别墅林立，村貌有所改观。[2]
建筑与农田[edit]
村内留有清代民居古宅六座。村周围的乾下斗门、湾尾柴涵、泮头蒂石桥等农业设施遗迹尚存。[2]
村民发展马鼻蜜桔，种植面积180多亩，另有蔬菜100多亩，果蔬成为村里的农业支柱之一。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2024年1月，墩里村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」；2023年12月，墩里村被命名为「2023年度福建省森林村庄」。[1]
