南街村是透堡镇下辖的行政村，位于镇区南侧。村名来源于明代的城堡：为防倭寇入侵，分散的村落被集中建成城堡，此村位于城堡南侧。[1]

村中建有综合市场一座，有30余间商店，是透堡镇的商业区。土地革命时期连罗革命的领导者杨而菖的故乡在此村。[1]

沿革[edit]

1958年前后此地属马鼻公社，为南街大队。1984年，马鼻乡在此设南街村民委员会。1990年，本村与马鼻其余7个村分出，组成透堡乡；1992年改为透堡镇，此后属透堡镇管辖。[1]

寺庙与人口[edit]

村中的净安寺建于南朝梁代，博雅地名网称它是全县最早建造的佛寺。据其2008年资料，全村57个姓，杨姓与林姓合计1654人，占60%。[1]

荣誉[edit]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予南街村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
