北街村是透堡镇下辖的行政村，位于镇中心区。村名来自明代的防倭措施：当时为防备倭寇侵扰，分散的村落被集中建成城堡，此村位于城堡北侧。[1]

村中设有透堡镇政府，建有中心小学校址、村委会会址与北街市场。全村2008年有53个姓，杨、黄、林三姓合计2893人，占多数。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村落始建于唐朝时期。1958年称马鼻公社北街大队，1984年改设马鼻乡北街村民委员会。1990年从马鼻析出8个村组成透堡乡，北街村随之划入；1992年改为透堡镇，此后一直属透堡镇管辖。[1]

地方特色[edit]

村中出产炉峰茶叶与官圳蕹菜。村内的「透堡革命-馆」已列为县级文物保护单位，村庄属革命老区基点村。[1]
