赤湾村是晓澳镇的行政村，位于镇域西南，东面隔海与马祖列岛相邻，西至狮子山，南临闽江口，北与道澳村相接。村名取自村民聚居的海湾，此处常有赤潮。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村落原有上楼、中楼、下楼三个自然村。1959年，本地成立浦口公社的赤湾大队；1961年12月，自晓澳大队分出，定名为赤湾大队；1984年，改为赤湾村委会。[1]

1980年全村通电，1985年通自来水。[2]

地理环境[edit]

全村耕地350亩，山地1347亩，辖区总面积1600亩。以种植业、养殖业和经商为主要经济来源。[1][2]
