村中有一口大池塘，周边青草丛生，村名由此而来。[1]

村子的建立可上溯到北宋，村委会设于1984年。[1]

全村共1020户，3560人（未注统计年份），设24个村民小组，暂住的外来人口超过一万人。[1]

荣誉称号[edit]

2022年度，村庄被确定为福州市中级版「绿盈乡村」；2022年10月，经福建省农业农村厅认定为第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇。[1]

村庄还先后获得「福建省先进基层党组织」「福建省新农村建设示范村」「市级文明村镇」「市平安家庭示范村」「县文明单位」等称号。[2]
