地名由来与村史[edit]
据村中的说法，北宋嘉祐八年（1063年）秋，文山一支的大用、大有兄弟从南山与水西林一带迁到文山南麓的起岩峰下，建祠定居。村名取窗厦，寄托了居民盼望生活安稳、居所宽敞的心愿。[1]
窗厦原与桐南同属窗厦大队。1974年，窗厦分出，单独成立大队，后改设窗厦村民委员会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
蟳山庵在窗厦的蟳山上，山形如蟳伏卧，因以为名。据《闽都记》，庵建于南朝陈太建元年（569年）。[2]
