沙堤村是潭头镇下辖的行政村，位于镇的南部。村子西面临严光西湖，南面朝向凤井锦墩，北邻碧岭村和元岱村，东连凤洋大洋。村中共有六个自然村：下井、茂仟、首占、池头、花园和村下。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村子晚唐以后隶属芳桂乡大宏里。长期风沙堆积，形成一道蜿蜒数千米的天然防风堤，村子因此得名，俗称“沙头”。[1]

历史人物[edit]

沙堤是宋代陈烈、明代陈亮（闽中十才子之一）的故里。据博雅地名网，村中陈、林两姓曾出过多名进士。[1]

村中林氏大宗祠堂，据村干部所述始建于南宋末年，竣成于元大德二年（1298年）。南宋淳熙十四年（1187年）进士林岊，村中至今留有林岊井。[2]

古迹[edit]

天王寺位于碧峰山上，据记载始建于唐朝，历代修葺扩建。[2]

村子以果蔬育苗为特色产业。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，沙堤村获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
