中街村是古槐镇政府的驻地，辖坊里、旧厝、南石三个自然村，西倚董奉山，位于古槐镇中心。村名的由来是古槐镇所在的三村俗称「三条街」，而本村恰居中间。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

中街村自古属长乐辖境。唐宋时此地归善政乡管辖；元代隶属敦素里的十二都；明清两代则为十二都三图。[1]

民国时期，此地先属古槐乡，后于民国三十一年改为乡镇，归古槐镇管辖。1958年6月，全县撤区并乡，中街一度属感恩乡；同年8月设公社，本村改为中街生产大队，隶属古槐公社。1984年9月，政社分开，本村归古槐乡。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，中街村获评2021年福建省卫生村。[1]
