据博雅地名网所载，村名因四周环山、山中多岩石而得。[1]

1985年成立石门村民委员会，并沿用至今。[1]

文物[edit]

区级文物保护单位石门文昌祠摩崖石刻，列入年份为1986年；文物点有石门黄婆桥、硋窑贞洁坊（硋窑自然村）和石门摩崖石刻，均为2013年登记。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2024年12月，本村获认定为福州市2024年市级「一村一品」专业村，主导产业为马铃薯。[1]

2025年11月，本村确认为省级「一村一品」专业村，主导产业仍为马铃薯，年度为2025年。[1]
