历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历：村址位于丹山脚下，土色赤红如朱砂，故名。[1]
村中居民都姓黄。据称明代永乐年间始有人迁入，至今已有500余年。[1]
1949年以前此地称赤屿乡。1958年改称赤屿大队，1982年设赤屿村委会，沿用至今。[1]
2024年1月，本村被命名为2023年福建省卫生村。[1]
