营前社区是营前街道的社区，地处闽江下游南岸、长乐西部，属主城区[1]。社区东面与湖里村、长安村相接，北面连着海星社区，南面靠峡漳公路，福泉高速公路与罗长高速公路穿境而过[1]。

地名与历史[edit]

地名的来历与戚继光相关：明代戚继光入闽平倭时曾屯兵营前一带，当地田地引闽江水灌溉，一年两熟，旱涝有保，因而称营前[4]。另一说法是该地古称瀛洲，因四面环水、形似仙山而得名[5]。

这里在1949年前后为营前大队，1954年改组为初级社，1957年为高级社，1965年再度称营前大队。1984年夏始设营前村，2006年改组为营前社区居委会[1]。

人口与侨乡[edit]

2013年，社区在籍人口6582人，居民2311户，外来流动人口1941人[2]。社区是长乐的侨乡，华侨和华人分布于东南亚、美洲和欧洲等地[2]。

名胜古迹[edit]

社区内有陈、林、邹三姓的宗祠[2]。营前陈氏宗祠、瀛前林氏宗祠和龙江井为文物点，瀛洲寺又称营前纪念馆，是区级文物保护单位[3]。文物方面，罗零基点在闽江南岸，营前新街与闽海关营前分关旧址也位于社区范围内[3]。
