亭头村是福建省福州市马尾区亭江镇下辖的行政村，位于镇中心，沿104国道两侧分布，南临闽江，东、西、北三面分别与东街村、闽安村、西边村相接。[1][2]

村名与古代的亭制有关：村子临近闽江渡口，渡船靠岸处设亭，「亭头」之名由此而来。[3]

地名由来[edit]

博雅地名网称，古代设有「十里一亭，十亭为乡」的建制。亭既供行人歇脚住宿，也是旧时管辖十里地方的机构。亭头的名字与一座道头亭有关：闽江下游的船只，一看到渡口就能看到亭子，于是人们把从渡船头通到亭子的这一带定名为亭头。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

清末此地属闽县东二区江右里，民国后归闽侯县闽安镇区、第二区、第三区。解放后，它先后隶属闽侯县第三区、马尾区与亭江区。1961年12月起归福州市郊区；1963年至1969年间属亭江区闽安公社，为亭头大队，1971年起转归马江区亭江公社，1975年又回到郊区亭江公社。[4]

村内设有幼儿园、小学与中学，福建省外经贸学院也在村中。村子的敬老院、礼堂与公园等公共设施，不少由旅居海外的乡亲捐资建成。[2]
