历史沿革[edit]
解放后，马限一带属闽侯县马尾镇青洲乡。1958年起，这里是马尾人民公社下的马限大队，此后隶属多次调整。1982年，马尾区设立后改为马尾街道的马限居民委员会，1995年11月改称罗星街道马限社区。[1]
地名由来[edit]
据博雅地名网，村名出自民谚「莲花上山马落水」的掌故：村后山的一丛石岩形如莲花，江岸四十余米外的一丛礁石形如马，马落了水，地势起伏成界，只能留在江上。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
马江海战纪念馆与昭忠祠在社区辖区内。[2] 马江海战炮台、烈士墓及昭忠祠一组，被马尾区政府列为全国重点文物保护单位。[3]
荣誉[edit]
社区在2006年11月与2009年8月两次被福建省委、福建省人民政府授予「福建省文明社区」称号。[2] 该社区于2022年12月获「2022年福建省卫生社区」称号，授予方为福建省爱国卫生运动委员会。[1]
