对湖街道位于福建省福州市仓山区北部，临闽江南岸。街道东面与东升街道相接，西面隔着岭后路与上渡街道相望，北面以爱国路为界与仓前街道相邻，南面以高盖山为界，与仓山镇、盖山镇接壤，总面积约2.7平方千米。[2][3]
历史沿革[edit]
1988年，对湖街道由原上渡街道与原水上街道调整而成，原水上工作办事处同时撤销。[1][2][3]
1996年，程埔居民委员会改由仓前街道划入本街道，凤岭居民委员会则划出，归上渡街道管辖。[1]
地名由来[edit]
地名的来历有一个传说：此地旧时有两湖相对，因而称为对湖。[4]
人口[edit]
第七次全国人口普查时，街道人口为56659人。[3]2011年末，辖区总人口4.8万人。[1]
文化[edit]
街道是文教资源集聚的地方，辖区内有11所大中专院校，其中福建船政交通职业技术学院、福建警察学院和福建师范大学仓山校区都设在这里。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
街道内的湖岭长兴禅寺旧址位于湖岭社区，创建于清雍正六年（1728年），20世纪90年代曾修缮。[5]
寺内以大殿为主，另有左右廊房与斋堂，供奉以泗州文佛为主要对象；旧址占地约600平方米，朝向西方，被列为仓山区文物保护单位。[5]
