社区名称取自辖区内的鳌峰苑小区，前身为鱼池及空地，于2001年12月成立。[1]

社区东至五孔闸，西至福光南路，面积1.3平方千米，有居民小区两个，即鳌峰苑和水岸华庭。[1]
