2001年，达道社区由原福山社区居委会和原达道社区居委会部分整合而成，属「地缘型」社区。[1]
2022年10月，社区被命名为「2022年全国示范性老年友好型社区」。[1]

社区东北以朝阳街上墩里一线为界，西南抵广达路与817路，东南临达道河，西北至广达路与上当路。[1]
