苍霞新城社区位于福州市台江区西部，是苍霞街道下辖的小区型社区，以苍霞新城群体为中心。社区面积0.196平方千米。[1][2]

社区所在地段原为苍霞棚屋区，经改造建成新的住宅小区后，于2001年设立社区。[1][2]

棚屋区改造[edit]

2000年7月，苍霞棚屋区改建工程动工，占地218.6亩。改建期间，一年内迁走3441户、9511人，居民把这次搬迁叫作“世纪大搬迁”。2001年8月17日，各项配套设施完工。[1]

社区建制[edit]

社区的前身是大公、三捷、蓬埕、一枝、潭尾五个居委会，并吸收了轮工、正义、杭二三个居委会的部分辖区。2001年12月14日设立社区党总支，2004年8月设立社区党委，据博雅地名网所载，是福州市首家成立的社区党委。[1][2]

小区[edit]

小区由嘉惠苑、嘉和苑、嘉兴苑、嘉华苑、嘉盛苑5个组团组成，总建筑面积约26万平方米，由41幢住宅楼和1幢写字楼组成，另有几处高层住宅小区。[2]
