历史沿革[edit]
宋代闽江泥沙淤积，鸭姆洲、鳌峰洲、佬药洲等沙洲相继露出水面，它们合起来被叫作瀛洲，街道的名字即由此而来。[2]
街道先于1955年5月在台江区之下设立。1960年曾称街道人民公社，1963年又恢复办事处的名称。“文化大革命”时期叫解放街道，1980年1月1日改回原名。[3][5]
至1995年，街道管辖18个居民委员会。1996年1月，福州市调整行政区划，街道被光明港一支河中心线切成两半，其中昌顺、振兴、实验、鳌峰洲4个居委会转入鳌峰街道。[3]
2000年时，街道有15个居委会，另加红星村委会，而1997年新设的瀛福居委会也包括在内。2001年下半年，居委会与村委会经改组，成为9个社区居委会。红星村则在2003年的城中村改制中设立了经济合作社。[3][5]
2006年，各居委会并为7个居民委员会，2014年8月又并为5个社区居委会，即建海、瀛东、红星、光明与滨江。博雅地名网的各社区页则记这次整合为2013年11月。[3][6][7]
地理环境[edit]
街道北侧隔光明港与新港街道、晋安区相望，东侧以光明港一支河与鳌峰街道分界，西侧沿五一路与后洲街道相邻，南面濒临闽江。[1][5]

2021年，街道户籍人口为30122人，流动人口为6860人。[1] 百度百科记2011年末辖区总人口为32534人。[5]
