社区由原台后、后营两个居委会整合组建，构成板块型新社区[1][2]。

全社区常住2030户，居民8312人（未注明年份）[1]。辖区机关单位达12个，包括省武警总队、省国税局、省地税局等，另设3个医疗机构与3个老人活动中心[1]。

辖区内的左海公园始建于1990年，占地35.47公顷[3]。
