大根社区属福州市鼓楼区东街街道，地处津泰路以北，是该街道的四个社区之一[3]。社区名称来自辖内的大根路[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

大根路旧称大墙根。清顺治十八年（1661年），八旗兵驻守福州城，这一带的房屋被圈作旗营，营外筑起一道高墙与外界隔开，因而有「长墙弄」之称[2]。郑氏降清后，台湾的战事已经平息，旗营渐渐空闲，此处种植了不少荔枝，巷名改为「荔枝园」[2]。

居委会设立于1950年；1968年改称群英居委会，1978年恢复原名[1]。
