位于五一北路东侧的河东社区，归温泉街道管理。这一带之所以叫河东，是因为它处在琼河的东岸。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

唐代这一带是渔村，居民依靠河水的潮汐张网捕鱼。宋代此处以罾浦坊为名，明代已形成街市，清代为旗营的一处，民国时复称河东街。[1]
