区政府网站2022年概况：共划16个村民小组，有886户农户，耕地面积1952亩，常住人口3434人，外来2200余人，党员120人。七成以上居民以务工为生，其余从事运输、建筑与商业等行业。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民国属坎山镇第九保；1949年5月后划为生产乡九村；1955年办利民等7个农业社，1957年合为五一农业社；公社化时属金星管理区第二大队；1961年改叫五一大队，其后更名为光明公社五一大队；1984年改设光明乡梅仙村；1992年起隶属坎山镇；2014年划归瓜沥镇。[2]
